Menopausal woman, multiple layers of gear. The amount of sweat is staggering. Seriously. During an average tournament I will fence 6 pool bouts and then a couple of elimination bouts. Usually over about 2.5-3 hours. I will drink 2-3 quarts of gatorade type stuff (I use Hydrate from Ucan) and not have to pee. Then i will drink another quart of fluid on the way home and about 30 minutes into the drive I'll finally have to pee. Seriously - even during practice. It's brutal, but I love it.
Keep on losing!

Testing, testing. Is this thing on?
Feels like I haven't been here in forever. I've been dealing with more IT band issues so I took a pretty long break. But it is time to get back at it. Big goals and whatnot. Slowly working my way back up north of 50 miles per week.
Monday-4 mile run
Tuesday-7 mile run
Wednesday-5 mile run
Thursday-7 mile run
Friday-4 mile run and yoga
Saturday-14 mile run
Sunday-5 mile run
As far as strength stuff goes, I've found a pretty great system at work where I drop down every hour and do some sort of body weight stuff. Seems to be really helping.

Sorry for the crappy weather. Fenced another tournament this past Saturday- didn't place well, but happy with how I fenced and didn't let my temper get the best of me.
Sunday - rest day
Monday - Fencing 3 hours
Tuesday - cross fit class
Wednesday - fencing 2.5 hours
Thursday - cross fit class
Friday - Pilates and arms/chest weights
Saturday -cross fit class
Hoping to get some yoga in this week - feeling kind of tight. However, the foot and ankle are healing nicely after my injury from three weeks ago and I competed without wearing a brace this weekend. Hope everyone has a good week.

Did not have the best week last week. I was going to get my long run in on Saturday, so i woke up at 3 am to start at 4 am. I was going to do 15 miles but as soon as I woke up, it was thunder and lightning and I wasn't going to risk it. So, my wife and I got out grocery shopping done early and then headed off to Knoxville, Tn, 5 hours away. We watched the game and then drove back to the hotel, about 40 minutes away. We didn't go to bed until 130 am. We drove home the next day in thunderstorms all the way home. Worst 5 hours ever. By the time we got home, we were done. So, Sat and Sun for me were shot.
Monday-Swam 1700 meters today. I think I'm going to get a swim coach to improve my time.
Tuesday- Praying to get 8 miles in..weather dependent
Wednesday-Swim @1700 meters
Thursday- Run 8 miles. No rain in sight.
Friday-Swim 1700 meters
Saturday-Planned rest day
Sunday-Have to make up my long run, will do at least 15 miles.
Hope everyone has a great week. Anyone have any upcoming goals/races?

You're very kind, Liz, thanks a bunch. I need to post an update because I was finally able to hit the bowling alley with my friend/ assistant on Sept. 11th at 11am (I can't deal with crowds & such). I overextended myself by paying for an hour instead of 30minutes like my surgeon instructed me. If anything my thighs took a beating and were sore for 4 days. My body & its weight bearing joints are not used to doing anything lightly taxing let alone strenuous. I paid the price, but I will and want to go back next week before September ends. I'll do it for the recommended 30 minutes. LOL.
Definitely give it a go, Liz. I'm no pro bowler. More sub level actually. But I don't care. As long as its fun, keeps my activity level up and the pounds down and my friends with me, I'll be fine. Thanks again & happy Autumn!

Thank you for the encouraging words. You're right about the shoes. They fit just fine. I'm just not used to wearing shoes because I've not done so in years since I had difficulties walking; still do at times. But also for years I was agoraphobic. Never left my flat. But thanks to my docs, social workers, nurses, counselors, I've come a long way, baby!
And WOW! You do Fencing?!? That's tremendously impressive! Kudos to you and all of your achievements.
Thanks & no, I don't. But I'm considering it as I become a bit more ambulatory. I still need and use my cane for balance and leverage (my bone loss doesn't help but I do my best). Its all any of us can do. Thx again.
