Topic: RE: water aerobics

I did some water aerobics when I was around 300 pounds, but as I started losing weight, I started adding other things. I am bone on bone in both knees. No replacements yet. You need to speak with your orthopedic about your pain control in your left knee.

Once I started losing weight, I worked with a personal trainer to learn how to lift weights. Your bad bad shouldn't be an issue. Also ask for a referral to a physical therapist to help you learn how to strengthen the muscles around your "bad" knee and use the leg more.

I'm still bone on bone in both knees. I should have them replaced, but I have not. I'm 57. I've lost about 150 pounds. I'm ranked 24 among women between the ages 50-59 in my sport (foil fencing) NATIONALLY. I can do it because I've found good pain control through regular visits with my ortho. Talk to your doc and spend the money on a personal trainer.

I dont do water aerobics per se but I do swim and it always feels great. Im run a lot so any time I can get some activity and limit the "pounding", its always a win.

I cannot walk because of bone on bone on my left knee, I had a replacement some years ago on right knee worked really well, but I have have too many other things health wise that have to be addressed before a second surgery on left knee, plus, I'm not excited about doing it right now. I don't lift weights because of a back problem. So I've decided to do water aerobics has anyone had luck with losing more weight or just feeling better from such. I looked to see if the question had been asked before but could not find such. thanks for your help!

So I drove to GA this Saturday after working until noon (6 hour drive) then woke up on Sunday, ran 12 miles, met with family, did my grandmothers taxes, ate lunch and then drove home. I didnt get home until 830pm..decided I needed the rest more than the swim/cycle..

Wednesday-Another just "Swim" day..did a few laps then did scissor kicks in the warm pool followed by some "chillaxing" in the hot tub....tried to just stretch out my groin/hip/leg combo pain thingy....

Thursday-Ran 5 miles..9:05..46:32..hurt but not injured..my new motto

Friday-leg hurt so just slept in

Saturday-may cycle if the weather holds out

Sunday-Running

Ramping up after a week off for spring break with my college age daughter in Florida. Worked out a few days, paddle boarding one day for 3 miles and lots of walking. Too much food, though. Feel really sluggish.

Glad to be back home and back into the training grind. I'm less than 30 days from my next national points event in Salt Lake City on April 13-14. Time to get the grind on.

Sunday - I did abs and balance work and some stretching to get back into things.

Monday - fencing lesson and fencing 3 hours

Tuesday - Cross fit class

Wednesday - board meeting followed by fencing - probably only 1.5 hours

Thursday - Personal trainer 1 hour, cross fit 1 hour

Friday - Pilates 1 hour

Saturday - crossfit 1 hour and then a late in the day tournament with 10 other over 40 women in Baltimore.

Hopefully, spring will finally start to show up in the Northeast. I'm getting tired of the cold after a week in Florida spoiled me with perfect weather.
