I try to do all my long runs on trails, and at least on other run through out the week.  Due to time, the rest are just on the flat road out the front door.  The main reason I try to do long runs on the trails is it's the only way I can get the elevation gains I need.  I run with a Salomon hydration vest.  I can carry over 120 oz. of water on me so I don't have to plan my routes to refill.  In the desert there are no water stops.  I have a little triangle route that I like to run some times where I pass back by my truck every 5 miles or so.  Those days I just carry a bottle or two and refill as necessary.

the pictures area great. I wish my trail running looked as nice. Do you do all your runs along trail. I have been trying to do most of mine along trails but if the runs are real long. Like at the end of the month 3 1/2 hours I don't do the trails. I pick places to run where I know I can ge****er. What do you do for refilling your water bottles.

I'll be a beast after I run it.  Right now I'm just an idiot who thinks running 30+ miles is a fun idea.

oooh!  That is too bad.  I remembered C25K.  I found it inspirational to do the longer runs with the group once a week.

Next thing ya know, you will be running with the Hash House Harriers singing bawdy songs about beer...

I started my couch to 5 k program yesterday after my workout. Was going to ask my wife how much longer she had but  I figured I had enough time but we ended up leaving the gym :(

I use resistance bands in almost every one of my workouts. Love them.

I just want to point out that exercise gives us a non-food outlet in which to develop new interests and new health conscience friends.

Pre-op: Loved going to breakfast lunch and dinner with friends, neighbors, bible study folks and even strangers! I loved wine tasting, beer tasting and chocolate tasting.

Postop: the ways I meet people now and keep in touch is fitness groups. Wine tasting is ONE even per week (NOT every other night)....

If I didn't exercise, I certainly would have failed...I wouldnt have had the social support and entertainment.

"I am burning 5000 calories a day, why am I not losing?" These same people refuse to watch what they eat.."

This is true. I am "injured" and havent been putting on the mileage like normal. Even though I watch what I ate, in these two weeks I have lost two lbs (I.e. one pound a week) cuz I am not hungry. I am not hungry because I am not running 30+ miles per week...

Exercise can make one more hungry and incorrectly give one an impression that they can "let up just a little" when one really shouldnt
