when i started to run i started with two minutes of running and one minute of walking. Your energy levels do increase as you lose the weight. I hear all the time how do you work and train and I say first of all you have to want to do and enjoy doing it. There are days after you have been out for many years that you may not want to do something but once I get going I am glad that I am doing it and the energy comes. You will find as the weight comes off there is so much you will be able to do that you never thought you could. I ran a 50k race last year and never thought I would ever run. Life is great
California So is there any adult (noncontact) hockey team (league) you could play for?? Lemonade from lemons...
The bad side of the situation...But there are leagues out there.
I know where I live mall walking is a big thing. In the one mall they even open up early so you can walk before the stores open and another mall have signs posted if you are walking the mall than please stick the malls and do not go through the stores. I would call the mall that is close to you and ask them. Great way to meet new people
Jealous sounds like you live somewhere warm. It is cold here and snowing
Sunday...Easy. Did a little pruning...Rode my bike around the block.
Monday...Weedeatted, mowed, and blew off my daughter's back yard. She has a large lot.
Tuesday...Today. Rode my bike. Went to the sales yard/flea market...Got a massage. Rode home, then rode to my brother's house (dropped off the family medical history...It's good to have for kids and grandkids). Then rode to the coffee shop (got a 1/2 chef salad and hot tea)...I later will add more vegetables to the salad (it will last me 3-4 days sometimes). Then rode to Walgreens to pick up a medication...Then rode home...About 5 miles total. Later I plan to pick oranges off two trees at the farm. And then pick up some brush to put in a recycle trash can later.
The rest of the week I don't know. It looks like rain Thursday and Friday. I'll play it by ear. Brian
Lots of bodyweight exercises can be done at home.
Lots of good stuff on youtube and cable....exercise along with the instructors on your television.
As already stated, though.....walking is your best bet while you are healing.
Live, love and make the most out of what your surgeon has done for you...........live your life without excuses and without regrets.
That's awesome!
I think it's definitely a combination of building your cardio endurance and losing the weight. Here's a link to a question I asked about running a little while ago. I think you'll find it useful.sorry my phone won't let me hotlink for some reason: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/fitness/6014213/Question-a bout-running/

So, I have not been doing intense exercise since my WLS; just walking about 2-3 miles per day, which is kinda good I suppose? Last night I went to the park and walked over 2 miles (4 miles in my whole day). Lately, I've been having a lot of dreams that I'm able to jog and not feel tired, and I'd wake up feeling slightly disappointed to realize that it was just a dream. I haven't been able to run without feeling tired for about 9 years now (I gained a ton of weight at age 17 because of oral steroids; they made me obsessed with food). So, last night, I had this intense urge to jog. I started jogging and I was able to jog for about a minute without feeling tired. I know that doesn't sound like much, but before, I'd jog for about 5 seconds and feel as if I was about to collapse.
My questions are: Is it easier because I've lost over 65 pounds? Is it easier because I've been walking a bit more? Both?
I mean, I can even walk faster than before. I'm able to walk faster than people in the store and at work, which is a miracle because I'm 5'2'' and I have Hobbit legs. Imagine a chubby little bird speed-walking across the parking lot with it's tiny stick legs. That's me.
I'd love if some of you could share your progress stories on energy and exercise. Thanks so much!
