So glad your rehab is going well - my weeks have been screwy due to a new work schedule - long story. But I got in 3 hours of fencing this week (had to miss Wednesday due to a meeting), lifted twice this week and did Pilates. Not one of my best weeks, but I can live with it. Hoping to get a yoga class in tomorrow.

I am currently 7 weeks out of surgery. Rehab is going well. I have walked a few 5ks in the last few weeks. This is the only thing I am cleared for as of right now.

Hopefully everyone is getting some of this fall weather.

Topic: Brittany Runs a Marathon and an Update

Hi all!

I got to see Brittany Runs a Marathon yesterday. I had a lot of trepidation going into it. I was worried it would be full of fat shaming and have the typical plot of "screwed up woman loses weight and her life is now perfect." It was neither of those things.

It felt very real and honest to me. A number of the conversations Brittany had with non-runners felt like they could have been pulled verbatim from conversations I've had. Specifically the "I'm running a 5k" met with, "You're running a marathon?!"

I don't like recommending things, so I'll just say that I'm really glad I saw this - you might be glad to see it too!

Update:
I haven't been around much since I moved at the beginning of August. While the move was expected, the speed at which everything came together and needed to happen was NOT expected.

I'm finally starting to feel settled and getting my fitness schedule on track. Too many fitness class options is not necessarily a good thing!

Another week of rehab in the books. Still have a "twinge" when I get into the car (left leg). I did start walking last week, going to do that more this week. She actually had me on the elliptical today for 5 minutes.

Cant wait to be finally cleared and able to run/cycle/swim..

Hope everyone is staying healthy.

Hello dear,

In my opnioun you just need some time to over come from the surgery trauma! Having surgery isn't a small thing. Try to take the classes which you are talking about and try to consult your doc regularly. Hope so you will get well soon! All the best for future.

Week before we were supposed to do pull ups, which I can't do to save my life. I said I'd plank with weight. (Which I had done a week or two prior). So my coach grabs a 45 pound plate and puts it on my back when I start. Jokingly, he says - doesn't look hard enough - I think you need a 25, too. I said, OK. He didn't want to but put another 25 on and I planked for 1:30 with 70 pounds on my back. (About half my body weight - I'm around 150-160 these days.)

It's about doing it time and again and being patient. I've been working on planks for years!
