So Saturday was my first age group/vet event of the season. Drum roll -

Gold in age group saber

Double Bronze (over all and age group) in foil

All in all a pretty good day.

Especially since I just found out I have strep which is why I felt like crap. I did my lesson last night and my coach sent me home because I looked like death.

Didn't lift today.

Whether I fence tomorrow is entirely up to how quickly the amoxicilling works.

If it does - THursday Lift, Friday Pilates. Saturday - who knows.

Have a great week all.

We did a planking challenge in my olympic lifting class last week after a full hour of lifting. A guy I could have given birth to and I were the last ones standing. I realized he wasn't going to quit until I did, so I dropped at 3:02, but could have gone to 4 minutes easy. Music helps. Hang in there. It gets better.

Week before we were supposed to do pull ups, which I can't do to save my life. I said I'd plank with weight. (Which I had done a week or two prior). So my coach grabs a 45 pound plate and puts it on my back when I start. Jokingly, he says - doesn't look hard enough - I think you need a 25, too. I said, OK. He didn't want to but put another 25 on and I planked for 1:30 with 70 pounds on my back. (About half my body weight - I'm around 150-160 these days.)

It's about doing it time and again and being patient. I've been working on planks for years!
