Struggling emotionally and mentally
You need to find other ways to get your hydration in. As others have said, it doesn't need to be water. Any non-caloric fluid will work. Protein shakes, crystal light, unsweetened tea, whatever you can drink.

It's strange that you're still having problems so long post-op. Have you spoken with your PCP? If your surgeon isn't seeing you, that would be a good place to start. Perhaps your PCP can intervene on your behalf.
Are you seeing a therapist for the mental struggles?

You say you have trouble getting water down does that include other fluids and do you get pain when you eat and feel sick. I am asking for a very good reason. I spent two years having issues with eating and fluids. Took two years to find the issues and that was after taking a sip of water and had so much pain back to emergency and they kept me for 6 days but found the answer.
