Contact Sports

Has anyone on this forum have the experience of resuming/starting to play contact sports after surgery?  If so, what sport and how long until you felt comfortable enough to do so? Did you experience any problems in doing so?

Most people wait about a year before they do major contact sports.  During that year they are building up their core muscles to take the poundings that can happen from the hits.  Below is one of the first WLS (Lap Band) stories that has happened with major contact.  I think after his Lap Band his weight went down, but also his production as a player went down too...

It's not a contact sport per se, but I started Aikido about a year post-op.  I needed to get to a point where I felt that I wouldn't injure myself and that I had a better connection with my body.  I feel like it's one of those things that you'll know you're ready when you get there?
