no training

I just need to vent. I am not able to train for the next two weeks. Went to the practice run on Saturday where my race will be in Oct. and took a real bad fall on the trail. Going down a very small hill and next thing I knew I was on the ground and had the wind knocked right out of me. Hurt the knee and can not walk on it. No running for me. They say because the earth was dry it makes it slippery. The shoes will just slide over the earth.  not a happy camper and of course my friends who do not run or work out can not understand what I am going through. Thanks for letting me vent

Hi-So sorry to hear of your accident. I whole heartedly understand your frustration. I had been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease which has mad working out challenging. It has been a few weeks and I'm limited in what I can do!!! Hope for a speedy recovery for you!

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

Thanks so much. I know writing here people would understand. My friends don't get it. I hope you are better soon. It sucks when you are down and use to be on the go. Get well yourself. Miss the weekly posts

Ouch, sorry for that.  I took a mean fall a couple weeks back.  Luckily it was just road rash and bruises.  I tend to not pick my feet up high enough when I'm going for hours on end and rocks try to grab my toes.  Can make things interesting.  Most of the time I'm quick enough to recover before going down.  Sometimes, not so much.  Hope the knee feels better soon.

I am so sorry to hear this!!!!  I could imagine that you are not a happy camper and the coming days will be tough.  But you, also are tough, and you will recover and get right back to it!!!!  A nutritionist once told me that he didn't get to exercise for a month because of an injury, and when he started back, he was surprised that he didn't have more loss of muscle mass and ability but it all just was still there.  I hope this is helpful in thinking you will stay just as you are and you will be back before you know it, doing everything you love!

Hope it will be true for me also. Just don't want to get to far behind in my training. if it was not my 50 k race than i would not be so worried but being that it is gets me nervous

Bummer!!  I remember in college I would do a lot of jogging...Then shin splints would slow me down.  Really made me frustrated.  Could you take up something else to keep the endurance; biking, swimming, elliptical, rowing?  But there is no getting past the strength training needed for the legs...

Thanks for your suggestions but no I could only swim without my legs. i needed to stay of the knee. First time I did as I was told and I am just starting to run again and swim. I did over a mile swim today. It is 95 percent better
