RNY; 105 degree yoga
Quick question: I did my first yoga class this morning. It was 90 minutes long, I probably was able to do 60 minutes of it. 30 minutes into it I had to leave the room because I truly felt I was going to pass out.
The class began at 0500, and I had to get up at 0345. I drank water prior and Poweraid zero during, but didn't consume any actual calories this morning until after, when I drank a premier protein shake.
Should I drink the protein shake prior to the class? I know I may have felt faint no matter what, due to the intensity of the class and heat, but I'm wondering if I should have gotten some calories in first.
Thoughts?

I really only take in calories if my workout is longer than 90 minutes, and sometimes, not even until after 2 hours. I run first thing in the morning (up to 10 miles), straight out of bed, with nothing bu****er.
My first thought is maybe a little dehydration. Also, you just may have gotten over heated. Each day and workout is different. You may go in the next day and slam it no problem. Sometimes we just have bad workouts.

I do hot yoga and I always make sure I eat a light breakfast (a hardboiled egg or couple strips of bacon) about an hour prior. I have low blood pressure since surgery and all the ups and downs and sweating can make me feel faint. You want to make sure your blood sugar/blood pressure have some time to stabilize between waking up and working out. If you don't eat breakfast then at least a protein shake to get some calories in.
