I saw these about 4 1/2 years ago...

The Amgen California Bicycle Tour was going through Modesto.  They had all these booths.  This one really caught my eye...I never did buy them, but I thought it was a great idea for people (especially WLS people) who do distance biking or running.  Dried strawberries, bananas, apples, and blueberries you can put in your pockets.  I do put banana chips, plain nuts and raisins in my pockets for long trips to snack on...Bike riding.  Just throwing it out there.  Brian

These are interesting.  A lot of the dried fruit I see has added sugar.  The problem I have with this type of stuff is chewing while running.  I guess I'm just not that good at it.  I tried to eat a banana in the middle of a 15 mile run and about choked to death.  So until I solve that mystery I'll just have to stick with gels and liquid nutrition.  I will definitely look this company up though.

I can't imagine eating something in a race - I worry that it would upset my stomach!  Too scary :P  I did a Blerch race and it had nutella and cupcakes at the water stations and I was like "nope nope nope, just give me water."

The key is to try a lot of different foods while training. That way you know what will do what to what. Luckily nothing has upset my stomach, just real hard to run breath chew and not die. At least for me.  Also, I usually don't eat anything if it's under 13 miles or 2 hours.

Yeah, I know the logic, I just wouldn't trust food that I hadn't provided myself during a race since I'm too paranoid due to a long history of stomach issues pre-WLS!  When I go longer than a few hours and need something, I use chews and just stop for a few moments to eat them.  Ditto for drinking.  :)
