Fall Fitness Giveaway, $293 Value
I am a 'chnge-it-up' kind of person. Last winter I was using a rebounder trampoline. Over the summer it was all about swimming.... and now I am on my second cycle of the Beachbody DVD's 21-day-fix, which I really like. Not doing the food, just the exercise.

I stay active in a myriad of ways, but my favorite is my 'me time' at the gym. I used to spend about 45-60 minutes climbing stairs or staying on the elliptical and the rest of the time dilly-dallying on the weights side. Then, I stepped back because I felt like I was toning up to a degree but weightloss plateaued and I was also very jelly-like in several regions of my body. I started reading books about what I should really be doing and talking to the fitness professionals at my gym. They advised me to start lifting weights more, focus on specific areas each time, and do my cardio, less of it, and at the end. I now lift weights for about an hour and 20 minutes and do my mixed cardio for about 20-30 minutes. It has totally changed my body composition. My weight is the same but my clothes size has dropped by 4 sizes. When I don't get to exercise, I have aches, cramps, etc. Exercising, even if it's only for an hour a day, listening to music that pumps me up, helps me not only feel better on the outside, but inside as well. My 12 yr.-old daughter has also joined my gym and works out with me. This makes me feel really good because she grew up seeing me eat the way I did and I have seen her mimic many of my bad eating habits. She is learning to be healthy by my activity too!
I am also a middle school teacher and I don't sit on my rear during 'recess.' I play, run, etc. with my kids every single day. They are much more engaged and some have even asked for FitBits for Christmas because they want to have class competitions.
Between the gym and my own students, I stay fit for myself, and for my family/students. I feel like I have set an example and I have a deep responsibility to uphold it.
I am one month post op with RNY my favorite way to stay active is by walking 30 minutes per day and using a stationary bike. I hope to increase my fitness & exercise time once I lose more weight. My current weight is 287 and one month ago before surgery my weight was 318.5- thanks!

I love to mix up my workouts each day...cycle class, body pump, swim, jog, free weights, and pilates.
When I lived near the beach, I walked 5 miles a few times a week. Not only did it give my body great movement, it also nourished my mind. I also practiced yoga on the beach. Recently I moved to Oregon and since I'm a little too fast from the beach, I decorated my house with photos of the ocean and practice from my home and a studio in town. My walks are now among glorious fall cooked leaves with the smell of the river and wet ground.
