How do you know when you have bitten off more than you can chew? I was so excited about my gym membership and getting back at it that I jumped in head first. I didn't try to rebuild or start slow.....I attacked like a beast. I wanted to see some really good results when I go to my 6 month post-op visit. I am so close to my biggest weight loss goal that I can feel it. However, my body let me know that I was doing too much. I had planned to hit the gym every single day until my appointment. My body didn't allow me to hit it at all these past 2 days. I know that good soreness you get after a really intense workout but this was something completely different. I wa****ting this machine called the Nustep real hard. I would push as hard as I could for 10 minutes or more. Then switch to weights. After that, the pool, steam room...shower then work. I was feeling bad but didn't think I was doing too much. But, it started messing with my sleep and had me hurting soooooo bad. Then this weekend I started having pain in my stomach. The husband said that the ab machine that I use may be too much weight on top of everything else. I think he was right. True enough I am anxious to hit my goals but I don't want to kill my foolish self doing it. I am trying to think of a better way. Hubby thinks I should just stick to the pool for now until my body gets back used to hard workouts. I'm not sure what to do. Any advice would be extremely helpful. Help please.

Definitely listen to your body.  For me it would be horribly depressing to be sidelined by injury, especially when you're "in the zone." That's what I'd be most worried about.  Be careful.

If you're exercising so much that you can't actually do your exercises, then it's too much.  Most people fall into the trap you've fallen into - which is starting too hard, too much and then failing due to injury/pain.  It's better to gradually increase your workouts as your body can sustain them.

Add a little bit each day or each week.  You'll get there :)
