Wondering Correct Amount of Excercise

I'm 6 months post-VSG. I started working out 2 months ago. I love my workout but I noticed a good portion of others seemed to be working out more per week. I'm concerned that I should be doing more to maximize results within my first year post surgery. so I wanted to get feedback on my routine.

My workout days are twice a week (Saturdays and Wednesday to ensure recovery between workouts).  It last about an hour each day with a pretty good intensity.

1. Row Machine for 10 minutes

2. Circuit (mainly for core) for 20 minutes

3. Strength Training: Full body routine, 10 exercises, 1 set each to failure around 8-12 reps, Minimal to no rest between sets.

My Sleeve was performed January 26th. I am down about 120 pounds to 300lbs. The last two months, since starting working out, I've averaged 10 pounds a month.  I'm happy with my strength progression and I'm feeling good with clothes continuing to get looser.

I'm concerned that my weight loss is slowing and that I'll miss out on the first year benefits of the sleeve.  I expected that adding exercise would keep my high rate of weight loss past month 4 but that didn't happen.

I wondering if I should add a 3rd workout per week or add HIIT 4-6 times a week or change everything up to 5-6 days of cardio and strength training...or keep it the same and be patient

Do you walk everyday? Along with your routine I would incorporate trying to walk every single day. Do you have a fit bit or any kind of pedometer? I noticed when my weight loss started to slow that just by adding 10,000 steps per day boosted the numbers on the scale. Another good thing is to measure you body. I noticed also there were times when my weightloss "stalled" I was actually losing inches. Good luck to you!

@auntmimi thanks for the great advice. I did buy a fit bit a couple of weeks ago and average about 5k steps a day but think stepping it up to 10k daily is a good next step.

Working out twice a week while good for your overall health, won't do much in terms of weight loss.  If you check the weekly workout threads you'll see that most of us exercise vigorously at least 5 times / week.  Always check with your medical team, but in my opinion, yes, I would exercise more.

I think most of us who post to that thread are weirdos :D

I think we're the outliers - most people don't exercise as often as those who post to the exercise thread :)

It was also a bit tongue in cheek. Clearly we're crazy for loving to workout so much!

I have no idea what you mean.  Getting up a 4:30 AM to run/walk through the local park before work is perfectly normal.

How do your muscles and joints recover working out 5 or more times a week? Do you find that too working out will stress the body and cause it to slow the metabolism?

For me variety matters. Running every day wouldn't be awesome. Nor would weights every day. But I do a wide range of movement so that muscles have time to recover from specific movements.
