First and foremost take it slow and always take advice of your doctor. Regarding exercises you can perform light stretching along with walking. Avoid exercises that cause pain.

Walking is the best for me.  I try the gym stuff, but never liked it...going to the walk and building my endurance has helped tremendous.

All the waking and moving is great. When your doctor clears you - WEIGHT Training - you need to build muscles to burn those stinking fat cells.  Get a trainer and build some muscle mass.

I use a program called SuperSlow - you can Google it and see if there is a location near you

Good Luck!

The best exercise, no matter what anyone else says, is the exercise you'll do.  And you're most likely to do the exercise you enjoy.  So try everything and stick to each new thing for at least a month.

From another post I wrote:

My advice?  Try absolutely everything - stick to each thing you try for a month before giving up on it.  Eventually, you'll find something that you actually enjoy and, when you do, do that thing a lot :D  There is no one right exercise - the best exercise is the exercise you'll do.  If you won't do it, it won't make a bit of difference.

So.. try walking, try running, try biking if you've got access to a bike.  Or swimming if you have access to a pool!  Join a gym that has a wide variety of classes and try every one of them that seems remotely appealing to you.  Give it a month before giving up.  Exercise often really sucks the first few times when you're uncoordinated and feel stupid, but after the first few times of feeling inept it can turn into something amazing, but you won't know unless you give it a really good chance.

Walking is the best exercise... If you want to opt for some exercises, it will be fine if you would consult doctor
