Feeling better after treatment for varicose veins
I thought that varicose veins were just a cosmetic issue, but they are a medical problem to the extent that insurance companies may cover treatment (and we all know what that takes). I just had one leg done last week and having the other started tomorrow.
I feel better already - I don't know why my PCP never told me to get it checked out.
Although I saw them after I lost some weight and started wearing shorts more often. They will not correct themselves whether you lose weight or not, and they are a function of heredity - even my skinny-minny cousins have them.
If your legs/ankles are tired and swollen, you might want to get them checked out. Most cities have a clinic or doctors that only do veins and are set up to analyze them (ultrasound test ) and can determine if they are just cosmetic or real medical issues.
A doctor posted a good explanation on ObHelp:

I had EVLT, laser ablation, done on both legs, as well as sclerotherapy. It's made a huge difference. Bad circulation can cause a lot of health issues.

I wish I knew about it sooner - I'm sure they have been causing me trouble for years! In the past now (well, one more procedure to go)

I hope she gets her legs checked out - you may be a role model for your family to address health concerns.
Onward!
