Please help! I am just starting this process and they tell me I need to start exercising. I can't even walk to the bathroom without losing my breath, how can I start exercising? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

When I was real heavy and had a hard time walking, I found a park with plenty of benches.  I would walk as long as I could and then sit down to rest.  You could try the mall.  Start slow and work your way up.  At my heaviest, I could barely walk a 100 yards before my back started hurting.  Thanks to the surgery and everything else I have done, I just did 7.2 miles in 1:35 this morning.  I can now run a mile in 10  minutes.

I never thought of going to the mall or the park with all the benches to stop and sit at.  I will give that a shot!  Thank you!

Take your time, paste your self over time. You build up your stamina and endurance levels eventually.
Best of luck to YOU!
I am simply walking now, but I will soon incorporate more!! Movement.

Hello there Jami1371 your body is already changing based on the decisions you made. I have sob and get winded just taking the garbage out. At first I didn't want/feel like exercising because it is such a scary sensation not being able to breath. But I also know the importance of getting the oxygen in me because that's one way to lose weight.

So what I do (because I still get winded) is have my chair right there while I indoor walk sometimes, just five minutes or ten minutes and/or break it up throughout the day. Exercise is cumulative so it adds up throughout the day even in pieces.

I also tried chair Zumba, chair toning, and chair abs, I found on youtube and they really work! So try it and let us know please the progress you are making...we can do this together!

Thank you so much for your encouraging words!  I will definitely try the chair walking and Zumba, etc.  That could make all the difference until I can get some of this weight off, and do more.  Thank you so much for the suggestions!  I'll definitely keep in touch!

I started with walking the dog.  First for 10 minutes at a time, a couple of times per day, then 15 minutes, then before I knew it, I was leaving the dog at home because he was slowing me down :)  Walking is a great way to build up your endurance.  Get some good music, load up your ipod, and go for it :)

Thank you so much for the ideas!  My dogs would love it if I walked them.  Maybe they'll help pull me a little too.  :)
