Does anyone have experience with these supplements? All my buddies (22-26 yo) are taking them and say that it gives you quite the burst of energy for lifting. Does anyone else have experience with these? I'm going to be trying a couple but the warnings are steep (don't mix with alcohol or other caffeine etc) and I didn't know if I should take a lesser-amount because of my surgery.

It might be worth asking a nutritionist or a trainer for advice.

I exercise 1-3 hours a day and I haven't ever felt the need for pre-workout supplementation.  I do add BCAAs to my water during the day and my protein shake gets CGT-10, but that's it.

I use pre workouts sometimes when I have to exercise in the evening and have no energy left from all day. I also have been out almost 10 years so it prob affects me different after all these years. I still drink my tea and coffee all day long but I am prob used to it as it doesn't even affect my sleep. Just be careful and don't overuse. I do like BCAA;s , its keep me hydrated and gives me what I need when bodybuilding. I always maintain my B12 and iron to be sure my levels don't go to low. I never drink alcohol as it slows your metabolism for 48 hours. I use C4 when needed. Maybe 1X week

Well this is good to hear. I'll have to get some. I am always so tired from the day that I don't feel like working out.

What you take and when is tightly related to what your goals are.  Taking something because your buddy does, isn't a valid reason.  Studies have shown that for certain activities that Caffeine is a benefit, such as endurance sports.

What supplement is it exactly?

Remember various supplements "may" aide in some aspects but have a price in others.  You see a lot of weightlifters doing Creatine, but you also see them walking around with a gallon bottle of water to keep their kidneys flushed.

The best answer is determine what your goals are and then do your research on the most effective way to achieve them.

Well, I am embarking on a 9 week, intensive 5-day a week full body workout designed for muscle building. My buddy just told me that he takes it because he did the same 9 week workout and he swore by it. So that led me to do research. I spoke with my nutritionist and she said that for something like this, it would be OK but to not use it the full 9 weeks. I've been on maintenance for about 4-5 months and I felt ready to take the next step.

It's called Cellucor C4 Extreme. You can find it on Amazon.
