yoga?
I am wondering what are your thoughts on yoga? I have been going to the gym finally. I am on week two of the couch25k app and I am really proud of myself that I am able to do it at all! But, sometimes I am sore for a day or two after and that keeps me from going back to the gym till I feel better. I had an idea of trying out some really easy beginner yoga at home on the days that I don't go to the gym. Does anyone have any advice on this? Do you think it would be beneficial? I am looking for it for a physical benefit more than spiritual. Maybe there is something else more appropriate for me?
I love yoga. It has done wonders for my flexibility and balance. I have a yoga stretching program that I do after every run and I take classes as often as I'm able. I also have a great app that I started using after I got the hang of things in classes so I do yoga at home on non-class days!
My classes aren't spiritual at all other than saying "namaste" at the end of class.
I pretty much think yoga would benefit everyone. I do think you should stick with it for a month before deciding whether to keep with it or not. If possible, try a class with an instructor so you can make sure you're doing the poses correctly. I highly recommend the iPhone/iPad app called "Yoga Studio" if you decide to go it alone.
Are you stretching after running? If not, you need to!

This is a great article with stretches to do after a run! There are pictures and I think you can see videos too.

Yoga will enhance your running. Most running injuries are caused by over tightness of the muscles or weak muscles. Yoga and the way in which it works to prevents tight muscles will help as you increase to more running and greater distances. While I do not do yoga and every time I run the first mile reminds me of how tight my muscles are, my wife does run and does not have this problem.
Besides if you enjoy it then do it
