Hey Blue Balloons

Its great that you are getting into your workouts, simplicity is best when getting going. I recommend you write down some goals on what you would like to get out of workouts. Pre workouts arent really necessary, having a good diet will give you all the energy, and benefits you need especially at the beginning. With your planning let me know how many days a week you have to go to the gym, and of course what you would like to get out of your workouts in the way of benefits.

The gym might offer a trainer to work with you for free for a session or 2 & he can see what your fitness level is & plan something out for you.

Most gyms have personal trainers and you can get a few free sessions with membership.  That's what I'd do!

As most have said most Gyms have personal trainer or at least someone on staff that can help you figure the machines out.  Using a machine incorrectly is pointless and dangerous.

As for drinking, you should get a good water bottle and carry it and drink as you workout.  As for food stuffs don't worry about it.  I rarely add calories unless I am going 2 hours or Longer.
