Weekly Workouts 3/9
My workout plan for the week:
M - Spin class
T - 1 mile swim followed by Zumba class
W - Spin class
TH - 5k run
F - rest
S - short run
S - 12 -15 mile bike ride
I did my first aquathon Saturday. I finished a 200 yard swim followed by a 5k run in 36 mins ... 3 mins for my swim - a minute transition time - and 32 min 5k. My best time ever! :)
Thanks! I swam as a child and then all through high school. It is just kind of natural. I would recommend taking a class to have someone analyze your stroke to see how you can improve speed and efficiency. :)
I did a 1500m open water swim last summer in 25:06. I am hoping to be closer to the 20 min. mark this year. :D
I swim twice a week with a TriTeam and the coach works with me on small but significant changes. For me the issue is speed vs endurance. I can swim all day long. MY 1.2 OWS at the Silverman HIM Last year was 55min so I was happy.
I focus more on efficiency and form than speed since if I tire myself out on the swim I won't have anything left for the bike.

a 10X100 or 3x300 I now avg a 2:21 to 2:25 but I go faster my stroke starts to fall apart.

My breathing pattern is very simple. Breathe Every 2 strokes. I was doing every 4th but my swim coach killed that.
As long as I make it out of the water in by the cutoff time I am happy. My biggest fear is part of the CHOO 70.3 swim is upstream.
