Exercise Goals for 2015?
I started getting into yoga last January (~1 month post op) and laughed at most of the poses. You know -- you've been doing it a while, you build strength and things that were not possible before become possible. :)
I never thought I could do an arm balance ever! I'm till not a small person -- my happy weight seems to be about 175 -- which is techinically overweights (by 1 lbs but whatever). Just before I got plastics I started getting the arm balances. I just kept trying and falling and then got them. So just keep going. Your body will do it when you are ready!
To get into the headsteand you have most of your weight on your forearms. It is suprising how much the core is really the key (especially to get you safely up & down). End yoga ramble. I could keep going! My sister referred to me as a yoga nerd on facebook yesterday :) I should post some of the pics she took of my doing yoga over my 6 month old niece. Haha. Ok seriously now, end of yoga ramble.
Oh man, when I started yoga downward dog seemed like a pipe dream to me! I couldn't do it if my life depended on it. Now I can "press back into downward dog" with ease. It makes me feel awesome :D
On the topic of yoga nerdery - I found this site the other day when I was looking for information on how to work towards shoulder stand. http://sequencewiz.org It looks pretty awesome and there are a few great posts about the pose! And posts about hips. And lots of other interesting things. :)

A half marathon seems so intimidating to me! I'm hoping to do one in 2016 :D
I don't think I could do a chin-up if my life depended on it! I'm reading a book right now that was talking about presidential fitness tests - talk about a bad memory. Girls, when I was in school, had to do the "flexed arm hang." Some day, my arms will be stronger.

I want that pill too.. Well, not addiction since that's unhealthy, but yeah.
What has worked for me is to try EVERYTHING. I have a local gym that offers a variety of classes and I just tried all of them that sounded even remotely appealing. I figured something had to stick!

I certainly was surprised to find things I liked. Most surprising to me is that I actually like running. I promise myself to stick with something new for one month before quitting since there's always the chance I won't like something the first time, but will the fourth time :)

My new year exercise has started off badly as my dad has been in the hospital. I have yet to make it to the gym! I did purchase a treadmill this past week. It will be delivered and assembled this week! Yay.
This years goals are to run a 5k in April & complete my 4th half marathon! Yes, I said 4th. I use the term "runner" loosely, but over the years (before VSG) as I struggled with my weight I always ran. I was a runner and my goal is to be one again! In addition to running again I want to make more time for yoga!
