Exercise Goals for 2015?
Do you have any exercise goals for 2015? Please share them!
I have a few :D
1. Run at least 520 miles
2. Log at least 15 minutes of exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY
3. Start studying Aikido in May
4. Start working with a personal trainer in September
5. Run at least 5 races
I've never made an exercise related goal in my entire life :P

Great Idea!!! I have a couple Goals:
1. Run in at least 6 races from 5k to 1/2 Marathon
2. Compete in a Sprint Triathalon
3. Complete a 100 mile road trip with my brother
4. Exercise at least 1 hour 6 out of 7 days a week!
In any event, I am happy to have exercising as a part of my life as I don't use it to lose or maintain weight but to be healthier

Could you explain what a sprint triathlon is?
We have a similar exercise mentality - I don't care about calories burned or weight loss, but I care that I'm more flexible, have better balance, have more stamina, and, in general, that I just feel strong and invincible :D It's a great way to feel!
A 1/2 marathon sounds so intimidating to me, but I think that's my goal for 2016. This year I've got all 5ks until the fall when I'm going to try a 5-miler. It's only 2 miles difference, so I should be able to handle it by then!

Hi Gwen, a sprint triathalon is usually made up of 1/4 mile swim; 20 mile bike ride; and a 5K run...it varies from race to race but the one I want to do has those distances.
I agree, I exericse because it is HEALTHY not to try to lose weight as I am 4 years post op.
As far as the races, keep doing the 5K's THEN when you feel you can train more increase to a 5 mile and then a 10K before a 1/2 marathon at least that is how I did it.
Be well...

Gwen that is awesome, Your goals are inspiring!! i want to run 2 5k's one in the spring one in the fall... I can't handle hot weather real well with my asthma. Can't breathe it's not a pretty site. But starting tomorrow my sister and I are starting to wal****il we can walk an hour straight then starting the couch to 5k. i'm afraid I'm going to have to od it at a gym once we finally start getting snow but I'm hoping for the best. Again my asthma can't handle extreme weather temps. I'm excited to start walking... And hopefully the weather holds out so I can start the c25k. I've only done one 5k before and though my time was 46 min i was and am very proud of myself!!! I finished it and didn't walk the entire thing. I barely jogged but I did jog.I trained all winter for that... i started in feb and did six miles a day until may when the 5k was. It was the most amazing accomplishment so I want to do it again. And if i can encourage my sister to do it with me then i will be thrilled. She is really struggling with her weight too, just like me, because of meds. This is an excellent way to counter the med reaction. i also have a gym membership for when it's too cold. i really need to utilize the membership. It's free with my insurance. I'm also trying to quit smoking so that's my other goal for this year. AND I'm going back to school. this time not on line but instead a college. Penn State university here I come.
It helps that I'm a homemaker, but these days I don't have much free time so reading is catch as catch can. Movies are on weekends. I did 63 books and 55 movies last year, so we'll see. Waking up really early helps me find time to get my runs in at least. Although it's really, really cold!

I sort of want to make shoulder stand a goal for 2015, but everything I've read about the post basically says, "OMG DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU'RE OVERWEIGHT." And, technically, I'm still obese! So I think that my goal, instead, will just be to work on my back and core strength so that when I am normal (in what seems like a billion pounds from now still), I'll have a strong basis upon which to attempt shoulder stand.
If that makes sense.
And a sub 2-hour half sounds super impressive. With your dedication I'm sure you'll get there.
