Yoga is one of my favorites because I love to stress but my passion is running. Thanks Gwen for sharing your workout.

My friend and I hit up a BarreSculpt class on the 23rd and did some cardio on Ellipticals at the gym on Friday. I think Barre again tomorrow.

My surgery date is 2/2 and a new PureBarre studio just opened and I may hit up their unlimited class pass for January to help me keep my eyes on the prize.

What's your 5k Training look like Gwen?

It's great that you're doing so much pre-op!

I'm doing a plan with Runkeeper that's called "sub-30 minute 5k."  I'm not aiming for a sub-30 5k, but I'm hoping it'll help me to be faster than I am!  The plan breakdown works like this:

Tuesday - 30 minutes of intervals (4 minutes steady, 1 minute slow)

Thursday - speedwork (.25 miles fast, .15 miles slow) for some number of repetitions.  It starts out with repeating this 4 times and gets up to 12 or something.

Saturday or Sunday - "long run" (first week of the plan is 3 miles, second is 4.. I think 7 is the longest.  This is done with intervals of .5 miles steady and .25 miles slow.)

I hope that makes sense!  This is my second time through the plan which is 8 weeks long.  It seems fairly decent but I don't know if it's helping me to be faster.  It's hard to tell since the cold weather makes me soooooo sluggish.

Thank you Gwen! I have been doing Barre 1x per week since Feb and at least 3 times per week at the gym or walking once I had my official pre-surgical WI.  I was an athlete in a former life so fitness comes back to me pretty quickly thank goodness :)

My sister runs full maris and I follow her training so this does make sense.  I coach Girls On The Run and hope to be in a place to run most of the 5k with them in June.

Exercise is a big part of my life and I have no co-morbidies that create any restrictions so I love challenging my body - responsibly of course.

Winter is SO rough.  I'm in Vermont and today it was over 40 degrees so I walked a couple of miles and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!

I've never had any bit of athleticism in my life.  I guess when I was a kid I played soccer and softball and tennis, but, yeah, I was a kid.  Many many years ago!

One of my friends is involved in Girls on the Run with her daughter - it seems like an awesome program :)  My partner is a marathoner and I've gone to all of his races with him to cheer him on over the last few years.  For his last running festival he did a half marathon and I ran my first race ever - a 5k!  Super fun times.  I love the running community.

I've learned to love Under Armour Cold Gear.  I'm resisting going back to the treadmill with all my might :P
