Excited about turkey trots and circuit training
This is sort of a cross post. But I have a question.
First-I am so excited! Today is the first pickup for our t-shirts for a 5K turkey trot which is a "Life with Cancer" fundraiser.
This is just my second 5K charity run after MO forced me into "retirement" I LOVE GETTING NEW T-shirts!!! Mental huh?
I am so looking forward to it and hope to break into the 35's. I did a practice run last week and at was 35:56...so if I can get ANYWHERE into the 35s I will be so happy because I will have dropped a minute in a month.
Looking into how to make a 5K run playlist on my mp3 player. Nothing but fast songs to help me through!
Now- a friend wants me to go to circuit training with her on the Sat AFTER thanksgiving. What is that? What sort of benefits shouldI derive from it if I do it long term?
Thanks

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
Nothing to add on the circuit training question - except that any kind of cross training or strength training is good for running! I'm looking in to adding swimming to my mix (trail & road running is still just all.... running.). On the music front, I found lots of electronic dance music really motivating, as that all has higher BPM, but it's really just personal taste. Did the Bethesda-Chevy Chase YMCA Turkey Trot 10k today - - gotta love this area for all the races right around the holiday!

Thanks! I did a turkey trot in Centreville and acheived a new PB: 34:07(official time)!
I DID use dance/electronica too and it really helped me keep up the pace.
Thanks for the advice on the circuit training.
I dont think I will ever be a swimmer due to lax shoulder ligaments. They pop out of socket backstroking pretty easy.
