Take it one step at a time, before you know you will finish the race!!! You will get a lot of encouragement and an great sense of accomplishment...exercising is much better now w/ the wl, keep it up

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

I did my first 5K two weeks ago.  Here are my tips.

1. Don't compare yourself to others.  You will go faster than some, slower than most others and that is okay.

2.  Unless you are trying to win, you are not in competition with anyone but yourself.

3.  Pace yourself at the beginning.  If you go too fast the 1st mile, the last 2.1 will be difficult to maintain.

4. Have fun

I wasn't able to run the entire duration my first.  I had to walk 2x right before mile 1 and mile 2 following some hills.  I finished in 40.18 and I was really proud of myself.  If you have been training and can complete 5K, odds are, you will be able to run the entire duration!  Have fun!!!

Thank you so much! If I cannot run the whole time, that is OK. It is my first try. Appreciate your suggestions and well done on completing your first 5k!

People get very emotional when they see their first finish line, for their first run, post WLS.  Enjoy the time...

TRUE!  I wasn't prepared for the flood of emotions!
