Just got in from our final track workout for the season... 3 more days till VA Beach! We did 4 miles on the track and had a great time, even with the pouring rain!

It seems my BG issues were from dropping down too low, and high values on my glucometer were b/c the damn thing was too old, so I'm a bit less worried about passing out mid-run.... Still gonna work on eating on a more consistent basis for the next few days!

Not a good day :( during my 16 mile long run on Sunday think I tweaked my calf muscle..have had pain last couple days...today tried to run but could only do 2 miles...decided to ice it and take tylenol and not run anymore before my 2nd half marathon on Sunday...also having some doubt of doing Full Marathon in May, might wait till October :((

Yours in WLS Journey,

Bill Mac

Bill, I'm sorry to hear that.  Have you tried "the stick" to release the myo fascia build up in your calf?  I recommend it highly.  I've always had chronically tight calves and it helps a lot.  Many running stores carry them as well as amazon.  It hurts when you are doing it but it really helps.  I hope you feel better soon!

I did my first ever run in the rain and it was awesome! It was a warmer rain, before the cold front zipped in!

The mid-point of my run was two timed miles. I do a mile warm up and then take the time of mile 2 and the time of mile 3 and blend them to see what your sustained mile rate is. I do this at a track for a multitude of reasons, normally I am on the road the whole time. I hit 11 minutes exactly. When I saw I had kept it to 11 minutes on each mile, I could not believe it! I was over 18 minutes a mile when I started out last year and now I actually did a mile (two of them!) at 11 minutes each. It was a celebration moment for me, to be sure!

My next long run in Sunday, 10 miles, and I am looking forward to it! I do a 10K run tomorrow morning.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
