Any recumbent bike riders out there?

I am scheduled for my RNY on March 18. Currently I am riding a recumbent exercise bike 30 minutes a day and enjoying it. With the weather getting better, I would like to take to the road. I have never found standard bikes comfortable (small seats, leaning over handle bars, etc). Does anyone out there know of a good, comfortable, reasonably priced, recumbent bike that would be a good investment for my future?

I think you are going to have to get out there and try them to find what really works for you. I find that bikes have a feel specific to the riders. I love my Gary Fisher, but a friend did not care for it after borrowing it a few days and went with something else. My son is a HUGE Specialized fan, I don't like his bike. These are standard, not recumbent, but my guess would be the same is true on that type of bike. Any good shop should let you do some trial runs in the bike you are interested in. My son had a loaner for three days before we pulled the trigger on the one we bought him to be sure it felt right to him.

HTH!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

You might want to go to a bike shop and try some on there. It like trying on clothes, what feels great to one makes another miserable.  Also,i would strongly recommend you rent a recumbent bike before you purchase.  I had a recumbent bike rider tell me it is very different than a stationary bike.

I use the nu step (it is also recumbent). I love it. It is easier on my ankles.

Best of luck

I agree with going to a bike shop.  Good luck tomorrow!
