Hi all! Saturday was physical rest (but mental stress!) day, so Sunday we had our group long run. Fell a bit short of the projected 14 miles, did 13.5, but such a scenic route that we didn't complain - - Bethesda to Union Station, so it's basically a tour of ALL the monuments in DC! We've got another 14 miler that's slightly less fun next week...

First ultra: Stone Mill 50 miler 11/15/14 13:44:38, First Full Marathon: Marine Corps 10/27/13 4:57:11Half Marathon PR 2:04:43 at Shamrock VA Beach Half-Marathon, 12/2/12 First Half-Marathon 2:32:47, 5K PR  Run Under the Lights 5K 27:23 on 11/23/13, 10K PR 52:53 Pike's Peek 10K 4/21/13(1st timed run) Accumen 8K 51:09 10/14/12.

I bet you could make a cool 'GO' camera film of your runs!

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Actually, our coach from the marathon program had a GoPro and we got to see his footage at our post-marathon banquet, filmed for the whole 6 months of training... it was amazing to see how we ran and progressed thru that training! Plus, such a beautiful area really lends itself to filiming....

I'm interested in how you all got "into" running?! For example, when did you start and why!? What motivates you to run? How is your maintenance affected by running? Any tips for a newbie?

Hi danslilady-I got "into" running to to continue to lose weight along w/ WLS then to maintain weight; I started about 1 year after surgery and now has been 2 more years; My maintenance is affected by it, when I am not running my weight seems to go up anywhere from 5-10 lbs, stays stable when actively running; My tip would be to start with a program like the c25k, start slow and know over time you will see the results!

Thanks Bill! I'm about 10 weeks post surgery and have been working on getting string for 5 weeks! I'm in my 3rd week of c25K and am enjoying it. It is hard to see, at this point, how I am going to get there so thanks for the support!

Thanks Bill! I'm sure I may have to repeat some weeks! Right now, I'm taking it nice and slow. I am interested in the mechanics of running. Any books you recommend?

I am signed up for my first 5K at the very end of April! The Run like a Diva marathon. I'm running it with a friend who is 5 years out! I'm hoping to run the whole thing!
