After NOT taking my vitamins and protein for the last 10 years i can feel it from trying to build muscle and endurance the last several months, which i am angry with myself over! SOOOO i went online and here to find out how i can keep the protein and vitamins down with out throwing them back up and a schedule and what to take with the vitamins, etc.  I bought a pill crusher 4 days ago and mixing the powder in a protein  drink or on soft food and haven't thrown up yet.  Yes I still stomp my feet sometimes and gag but it will get better.  curious as to how long will it take for me to see a difference in the build up in my muscle tone.  Any other 50 year (still young at heart) old who is sort of going through this also that can give me some feedback. I recently had my blood work checked and my Iron, D3, B12 were low, everything else was fine, even checked out my liver, kidney levels. Unfortunately I will need to start taking a stool softner, but at least I am going in the right direction ..no pun intendedno

I feel you on that one! I did the same thing (not take vites for 8 years). Every time I started focusing on protein and started power-walking/jogging I'd gain a lot of "weight"; which was muscle. It took over a month of exercising for hours a day to finally see some actual weight-loss! How long have you been trying to build muscle?

I started working out several months ago, I saw some improvement but my upper body strength is horrible, I think that I was toning more than building strength.  So I am going strictly to free weights and go from there.  Going to add protein drinks with some Creatine once I get where I feel I have a good routine  I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 16th and hopefully I can get an infusion done the following week to sort of get caught up on my iron levels.

If you want to see a difference fast, lift heavy! All this light weights for a lot of reps is for the birds. It's good for maintaining but it's hard to make a lot of progress that way.

If taking iron makes you constipated, try carbonyl iron. I get mine from VitaLady.com. She's a bypass patient and uses all her products and is a stickler for quality.
