Friday workouts/training
Last major Friday run before we start tapering (ugh, I'm dreading it) so I ran 12 miles at 10:25m/m pace.... Frankly, I'm shocked that I did so well b/c it was ungodly hot and sunny and parts of the trail that are not state-managed but under NPS had their water fountains shut off (and truth be told, it's my own naughtiness for running that part - - was actually barricaded w/ a sign saying the trail was closed due to the gov't shutdown but no one was paying the signs much mind.)
First ultra: Stone Mill 50 miler 11/15/14 13:44:38, First Full Marathon: Marine Corps 10/27/13 4:57:11, Half Marathon PR 2:04:43 at Shamrock VA Beach Half-Marathon, 12/2/12 First Half-Marathon 2:32:47, 5K PR Run Under the Lights 5K 27:23 on 11/23/13, 10K PR 52:53 Pike's Peek 10K 4/21/13, (1st timed run) Accumen 8K 51:09 10/14/12.
Well, my Triathlon was supposed to be this morning, but because of the threat of Tropical Storm Karen it was canceled (hopefully to be rescheduled - by the way, it is gorgeous here right now)
SO Friday afternoon my friend who was supposed to do the Tri with me met me at the gym and we had our "Anti-Karen Duathlon" - 50 minute Spin DVD that my trainer made, then a 5k run (just over 35 min, which I was really proud of for lots of reasons - I haven't really run since August because September sucked, it was hot, and there was a beast hill).
Today is just a walk / jog day. Back serious into the half training on Monday.
