What a way to commemorate 9/11..... I'm joining my Navy friend to run the Freedom 5k at 11am today. She's getting me on base, as it's only open to active duty/retired/DoD civilian employees and the course is going around Walter Reed/Navy hospital complex. Wi**** weren't going to be so hot today, as I would have liked to race it and see if I could beat my 5k PR but we both decided that'd be a bad idea - stroking out from heat, even in close vicinity to several hospitals, is not pretty!

ETA: finished in 33:17 and it was hot as BLAZES but I'm not gonna complain b/c there were troops running in full gear (boots, uniforms, packs AND kevlar vests) so my moisture-wicking running shirt/shorts & superlight shoes have NO right to complain next to them.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
