Rock n Roll Va Beach

Anyone got any input on this one? Plans to do it? I've read time and time again about the heat at last year's race. I would love to train for a PR since its flat (I live in east TN- my flat here is a hill for most people) but wondering if I should withhold full training mode for a later race?

Be happy.

I am aiming for my first half in November, so no way I could do something sooner. I say go for it though... you'll be training in heat so you can be more prepared

Go for it! RnR events are pretty awesome and I think I'd heard good things about VA Beach too - - like flat course, etc. I think that there was a discount code that I posted a while back that might expire today. I think it was USAROX13 and you get like $10 or $20 off an RnR event. Hope you use it and rock the Half!

I have done this race for the last 6 years (it was my very first half post-op). It is a great race. Great crowd and community support. Nice flat course. And the after party is on the beach.

Everything you heard about the heat last year was spot on. It was awful. Already in the 90s and high humidity at race time.

I actually pulled up after 8 miles and just walked it in. I was about 3 weeks from my first 70.3 and didn't want to risk anything.

Best of luck if you come down here for it!

I had weight loss surgery. I did it the easy way.
