Marathon relay Saturday - went better than I could have ever hoped. Never ran or even socialized much with the one woman I knew previously and met two new ones. We all got along well and it was a great, smallish race at a great venue. There was a last minute (inside of one week prior) change in venue so instead of running on pavement, we had to run on a trail that is used by cross country runners. It was my first time running on something besides road for any length of time and I made it through my four 1.65 mile legs without eating dirt!
My team finished 5th out of 11 in our division (4 woman team) with a time of 4:06. My legs were at a 9:22, 9:45, 9:42 and 9:44 pace.
Overall, a success!
I'm resting my legs today but will likely go to the pool with my kiddos and may float around some.
Congrats on the relay! Recovery in a pool sounds like a good idea....

Regular Saturday ride, 45 miles with 2200 ft elevation gain. The difference?? WEATHER. It was so so beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest. Clear blue sky, beautiful views, perfect temperature. We had 16 riders, most of us pictured below. I'm wearing my new Chico Wildflower jersey from last weekend's ride.
Sounds like you had a great ride, so happy for you!!

I called myself running the Fiesta 10k here locally, but it was pretty sad lol
GREAT course, good support, the weather was cold to stand around in but phenomenal for running.
I slept about 2 hours Friday night so I was already in a whiney frame of mind. First mile my ITBS started kicking up in my right knee. Did ok, kept running. 2nd mile both shoes came untied, once at the same time, then one of them alone. Kept running after shoe stop. It was my first time ever running in a tanktop and my arms chafed something awful. My knee hurt and I was tired and grumpy. So I walked.
As usual, about mile 5 the ball of my left foot felt like I was standing on a golf ball. So I walked some more.
Finished 1:10 and some change vs my previous PR of 1:08 and some change on a VERY hilly course.
I am so sore today you would think I sprinted, uphill both ways!!
Oh well, new day, new attempts.
Your final line is a good mind-set: after all, tomorrow's another day! The feeling like you're walking on a golfball thing, I think it's called something like Morton's Neuroma .... basically where a cluster of nerves form into a ball and cause feeling like you're walking on a marble or some numbness in the toes. Someone in my pace group last season got diagnosed with it and I don't think they really did anything for her other than encourage stretching before & after runs, with emphasis on flexing your tendons at the bottom of the food. I think I've had a little of that - where my little toes become numb after running at times and I get some pinchy-type pain at the bottom, but if I flex my toes and just run thru it, the feelings tend to dissapate. Who knows? I could be really screwing things up, so of course follow a dr's advice, not mine!!
