How long after surgery can you start working out? And can a successful person share the workout they started after surgery?

I started regular exercise (cardio and weight training) 6 months before my surgery.  Therefore I was clear to start working out again within a couple weeks (light weights) but was told to walk as much as I could immediately after going home. For the 1st 6 months after surgery I mainly did power walking and Nautilus machines.

Currently I work out 4-6 days a week, doing P90X, boot camp, yoga, hiking or running.  I found things I enjoy doing so it doesn't feel like "work".

i would think that walking and a workout video from home would be the best, you can take it as slow as you need, and most videos do not require you to have machines, maybe just a few weights.
