Counting PRs

With the discrepancy between my official time vs my Garmin time - due to a lengthy wait at the port-a-potties - I pose this question to the runners here: is it disingenuous to count your PR as what you ACTUALLY ran or do you defer to the official time?

I am by no means in the position to make a judgement on this, if it were me I would my PR as to what I actually ran...ignore the official!

Bill - you were right, my coach said the 2:17 was my start time, not my race time so I'm gonna consider my PR as 2:08:59. Woo hoo!! How'd you do on your race??? Make sure you ice well and REST tomorrow!!!

That's awesome time! Ice yourself today & take it very easy tomorrow.

I was always told to not make major life-choices in the 72hrs around races (so, as appealing as that Spartan Run booth may have been at the Expo, don't let your race-brain sign checks that your body won't want to cash in 3 months!).

Happy running! - Nicole

Its a personal choice, but I always go off official time. I had a situation in 2011. My second marathon I had a 6 minute porta-potty stop at mile 16. My total and official time was 3:56, and that's what I use. Without the porta-potty stop it would have been 3:50 but the clock didn't stop while I was in there having GI distress.

Official PR is the chip time.  Personal judgment on my performance is Garmin
