Did 3.75 miles of hill repeats in the sleet/snow..... I'm starting to understand why people look at us runners like we're insane. Cuz we are.

Hi-1st post on this forum. I am a little over 2 yrs post op. Have lost 150lbs and took up running about a year ago after NEVER running a day in my life. I have now done about 1/2 dozen 5K's, couple of 10Ks and now in 7th week of training for my 1st 1/2 Marathon  on March 17. Today I did 5 miles, and as we are still melting from close to 3 feet of snow from a blizzard got a couple interesting looks myself!!

Hi Michele,

Good Luck to you as well. What are you doing for a training regiment? I am following a plan from a web site called cool runnings.

I'm using the Hal Higdon Novice 1 program, but I've not been doing a very good job of following the plan. My base mileage was already up over the starting weeks so I winged those weeks. I've been trying to do three runs during the week, 2 medium length and 1 easy/shorter length and then a long run on the weekends that is double the length of one of my medium runs. I ran a practice 13.1 last weekend to try to allay some of my fears. I'm alive to tell the tale so hopefully I'll be in good shape :).

Can't wait to hear about your race, reading race reports are one of my favorite things to do on this board.

Hi Michele,

Very cool. Your training sounds similar to mine. I do a long run on Sunday (Last week did 10) then Monday off, Run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Off on Friday and then a run on Saturday. Glad to hear your alive after trial run, I keep doubting myself, but know I can do this, but just need to stay on my training schedule.

Looking forward to hear how you do as well...Be well!
