5K walk
I never trained for the 5K walk. I was working out daily though; doing aerobics and weights. The walk was easy and my husband was amazed that i did not train. The people I walked it with also did not train. The route was hilly and the day was pretty warm. Drink a ton of water before you go and take a water bottle with you. You will be fine and you will feel like a million bucks afterwards.
Good Luck,
Sharon
You want to just slowly increasing your distance - don't try to go too far and push yourself toooo much right from the start but set some reasonable goals from yourself and enjoy the process. Consistency is really the key - if you keep to a schedule you might find it easier. If I don't have a schedule, I'll just pull out a bunch of excuses to skip a workout.
Great job for setting your sights on a 5k - it's addicting though - you've been warned!!

Hi: I'll be doing a 5K walk and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to start training? Should I just use my Fitbit and calculate how much I walk everyday? I hope to walk a half marathon this time next year (ouch)
Thx for the help.
You can start your walk regime and increase it gradually. Don't jump right on conclusion and be consistent in your work out. You may use the treadmill for that as it would help you in monitoring the time and distance thing. Do add green tea before you start your walk as they would act as boosters for your muscles for walk and work out. Try some skipping and jumping in the end as they would benefit you a lot.
