. . . for information to educate myself on running, stretching, hydration, calorie intake, using a pedometer or any other aids necessary, and all of that fun stuff?
I would like to start running, and am just starting to get information together. Does anyone know of any good web sites or even books to read that you would recommend for a beginner?
I haven't "run" for over 30 years(omggggggggg am I really THAT old?!?!?!?!) but I used to enjoy it when I did.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

I use to be a big time jogger in college. Now with a bad back I took up the bicycle. A few thoughts in no special order (general thoughts). The C25K program is what many people use. You can go to the website or download the app on most phones. They even have different music for each running period. Stretch...for shin splints and muscles. Get fitted for good running shoes (don't go cheap). If you feel a pain, stop running...Let it heal. Find a local 5K and enjoy yourself...Walk whatever amount you need to on the first one...You're doing it for you! For places to jog I would suggest the local univeristy. They usually have campus police and people are always around. Another site I use for biking...Google Maps. Just type in your city...Then go to traffic...Then to bicyling. It will show the bike routes in your area in green. Don't know what you'll do during winter in DE?? Ice skating?? Hockey???

Thanks for the information, you mentioned things I would never have thought of!
LoL. . . . .during the winter I guess it will either be jogging on the treadmill or at the local mall. The mall opens their doors a couple of hours early every day and allows walkers/joggers to come inside and exercise until the stores open.

Active.com is a wonderful resource whenit comes to fitness related articles, and Livestrong is a good second choice.
When it comes to nutrition it can be hit and miss so check with your NUT depending where you are at in your weightloss.
