Beach Blast 15K Run
Over the weekend, I completed a 15K race/run. I scheduled it as a training run for my upcoming 1/2 - it just fit perfectly (with 27 days to go!)
But, I have some brusitis in my hip, so I basically took the last 3 weeks off. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to run a whole mile, let alone 9.3, but I went, and I managed to run the whole thing a comfortable pace for me (avg pace was 11:20)
The first couple miles sucked because I still believed I wasnt going to be able to do it - I was out of breath within a minute of running and took me about 20 minutes or so to calm down and just settle into a comfortable pace. It was a little bit mentally challenging because it was a 5K out and back x 3. There were others doing a 5K and 10K so everytime I got to the "finish" it was like...nope, keep going.
My longest run was 7 miles 3 weeks ago (my last run as well, as my hip was done at that point). When I hit the 7 mile mark, I wanted to just give up and walk the rest - mentally I was telling myself there's no way I could run more than 7 miles, but for the next 2.5 miles, I just focused on the next 1/4 mile - and so on and on I went. I think at some point, I just held my phone and focused on my screen saver that says "if it hurts, run faster. It wont stop hurting but you'll be done sooner". I wasnt actually in much pain, but I didn't want to go any slower.
So I finished. If I hadnt dropped my water bottle and ran most of it without fluids, I might have cried. I realized that I will in fact be able to complete my 1/2 marathon at the end of this month, and accomplish one of my biggest (if not the biggest goal) goals and dreams.
My hip feels good, im a little sore, but ready to finish training and get to the 1/2 already :)

Way to go!!! I think I would hate seeing the finish line that many times before I could stop!!! What a great pace and you look fantastic!!!! You will be able to do it and I cant wait to hear your race report at the end of the month!! I ran with G2 in my water bottle and then just kept adding water to it at the water stations. Really proud of and for you!!!
