Peachtree Race Report 2012
Hello Everyone,
I won't create a long race report, but wanted to share the day and the race with everyone here. I arrived at the race early this morning, and while waiting around I met up with Paul Corley and avid poster on the forum, and another friend. Paul and I were running in part for TEAM RWB and as a result we started the day with a pre-race photo of the group who were running.
Once the picture was over, I headed back to my corral. Now the race info.
The Peachtree is the largest 10K in the world, with 60,000 participants running. It takes the better part of almost two hours for each of the waves to start. I was in wave "G" based on the results of a half marathon done in March 2012. I worked my way to the very front of the corral, and started walking to the starting line. The race starts and I hit the first mile hard trying to separate myself a bit from the pack. I have some breathing room most of the race, but when I get to the hills there is a large slow down and I had to play "Frogger" trying to get through the group, it also didn't help that there were people throwing out promotional items, and people in front of me stopping dead in their tracks trying to catch them. I adjusted and off I went.
The race clicked on, and as I approached the final two miles I knew I had enough in me to pick up the pace again, so I picked up the pace and finished the race. My time per my Garmin was 56:08. A new PR for me at that distance. Average per mile was 8:57.
Here's my Garmin.
I finished the race and unlike my other long distance races, my legs were strong and unphased by the miles I just did, even sitting here this evening there are no sore muscles or aches from the run. Which is great because on Sunday I have a 100 mile bike event. Bring on the fun.

congrats, nice work on the PR. Temp seemed to be surprisingly good for the race this year. with the nasty heat we've had over the last couple of weeks, i was sure that the peachtree was going to be messy.
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

They are absolutely attainable. Just be smart, work with a nutritionist as you got further into training will also help out, I know it did for me, and still does. The group in the exercise forum are fantastic people, and really relish everything positive about people changing their lives through exercise.
