Is there a reason that running shoes for overpronators are so much ugglier than other shoes?  I mean, ok they have a thick sole but is there a reason they only come in **** brown and white?  I had horribly flat feet BEFORE I weighed 270 lbs, I've never had any arches and the weight just made it worse.  I know style doens't matter, it's whether they fit or not, but come on just cuz I have flat feet doesn't mean I want butt ugly shoes!

I think it pretty much depends on the brand that is most comfortable to your foot.  I haven't seen a brown mizuno yet.

Besides who cares about the color if they save your legs.

No brown Mizuno but plain white.  I know I get that but I like stylish too!  Just one purple or pink one would make me happy!

if you have a make/model that fit you well, google them, sometimes your local store only carries one color, but there might be others.  My boring white/blue Nikes have a sister pair in HOT PINK.
Read my blog, BARIATHLETE   I run because I can.

I ended up getting a "normal" pair with an insert, that gave me the wide toe box I needed plus the support.  I'm doing a fun run 5k tomorrow and going to try them out.  Luckily the running store gives a 14 day guarantee.  I ended up with a pair of bright pink Mazuno's!

I have really flat feet and always wear Zoot shoes, I love them, and they don't make them in brown

My running store has a BIG sign that says "You DO NOT buy shoes based on the color!!"  LOL.  To me my running shoes are just a tool.  I dont wear them for anything else.  Once they are retired, I will wear them for other things.  If my shoes can keep my knees from hurting I dont care what color they are!!!
Happy running!!!

I get that I really do, but if I'm going to spend so many hours in it I'd like to at least not hate them.  So far the only shoes that don't have me writhing in pain are my toe shoes, but they will cause other long term problems because they have no arch support.  After a 3 mile run this morning I have to return the shoes I got yesterday. . .

I understand how you feel.  I wear a wide width 12 in women's shoes.  There isn't a whole lot of selection in that size.  I usually end up with shoes (running shoes, dress shoes, sandals, and boots too) that I don't like very much.  Most stores don't even go up to my size.  I would love to have a large selection to choose from like everyone else...but that never happens.  I sometimes end up ordering online.

Just jazz them up!  Buy bright colored laces.  Glue on some rhinestones!

You can "fix" them up and make them purty.  I know what you mean....but I'll tell you this-after getting fitted for real running shoes and knowing how good they feel, if my next pair was turd brown, I'd be fine with that.  My feet feel good!

Have fun!
