Realistic to do a 5k at 3 months post op?

I'm getting sleeved on July 10th.  My SIL is looking for people to be on her team for the Color Run on Oct. 6th, and I have wanted to do the Color Run since I first heard of it.  It's not a timed 5k, it's just a fun run.  Is it realistic for me to think I can do a 5k at 3 months post-op?

I would say yes! Timed or not, if walking is allowed and you feel up to it....go for it. Usually you can register as a runner and still walk, but you can't register as a walker and run. I walked a 5k less than 2mths post op RNY and have done at least one every month since.

Walking is definitely allowed - I don't even think there's a distinction when you register.  Registration is tomorrow and I guess this race sells out pretty quickly, but I'll only be out $35 if I decide it's too much.

Thanks!  I'm really looking forward to this!  :)

the number one goal should always be to have fun. You can compete next year, this time is YOUR time.

I love doing 5ks, even though I somehow still can't jog / run the whole thing. I am working on it though!

Do it!    If you can't run just walk it.   Most importantly, have fun!

GO FOR IT!  Actually, if you aren't already, start training now (walking and jogging some).

As long as you finish most 5ks in 45 minutes you are fine.  If you can't run, you can walk, and if you can't walk, you can leave.

I'd definitely go for it-and most of all, HAVE FUN!

I did it at 8 weeks out!  Walked a fair bit but still finished in under 45 min.  I'll be 12 weeks out next Monday and I'm regularly running 4-5 miles.

Ditto here, and I'd say get training now to build up what you can. Have fun!

DH and I are registered!  I'm so excited!!

I'm going to do the Couch to 5k program once I'm cleared for exercise.  In the meantime, walking!  I may try the first week or two of the C25K and just repeat them for now if I can handle the jogging.
