Reasonable?
I've done two 5ks now. I'm doing 5-6 miles on my usual runs (3-4 times a week). I signed up for a 10k next weekend but I may puss out and only do the 5. I'll be running on very little sleep.
Theres a local half marathon in September. Is it reasonable to think I will be ready? I sort of want to sign up for it to keep myself motivated during the heat of the summer.
Thoughts? Thanks!

That's more than enough time. Even if you only increased your long runs by 1-1.5 miles a MONTH you'd be okay.
Look into a 1/2 training schedule. I ran my first 10K a couple weeks ago and I plan on doing my 1st half in October.

I'm using Hal Higdon's 1/2 marathon training for my 10 miler in Oct. Sounds like you'd start at either the Novice 2 or Intermediate one.

when I first started running Half distance. I used Marathon Rookie website. It's free, and it worked for me. I agree with the others, you have more than ehough time to get prepared, and I wouldn't worry about times your first half distance, but focus on the experience and completing.
As for the 10K coming up, do what you can. Your prepared for the distance if your normal weekly runs are 4-5 miles. Again, maybe the first time you do a distance do it for completion and then see if you like the distance and then work on doing it faster. Enjoy what your new body is allowing you to do.
