Payday Commitment - Sprint Tri

So I am pretty sure that if I have the funds this payday, I am going to register for the Sprint Tri in October.  If I join the local Tri group, they have free training and coaching, teach transitions and swimming in packs, and the USAT rules.  They accept all levels and abilities and you train with a Triathlete.  Only requirement is able to walk / run 2 miles without stopping - got it.   Bike 20 minutes - got it (and a sore butt).  And swim 200yds. I was worried about the swim, but it doesn't matter what stroke, so I can back stroke here to eternity if I get too tired to make it back to shore.

My trainer said she will start tailoring my workouts towards brick type training. She may even register with me (but leave me in her dust lol )

I have been on beginnertriathlete.com,   trinewbies.com .... googled and youtubed swim strokes.
I have just a ... bike (no idea what kind?) but my trainer said it is fine for a Sprint Tri, espeically one as flat as the one I will be doing.

I have been doing at least one 5k each month since surgery (mostly walking, this past Saturday I did 2min jog, 1 min walk for almost all, 2min each for a little bit -  43:34 time)

Any other suggestions? Help? Advice?

Welcome to a fun and even more addictive sport!  Say good bye to your saving account and tax refunds because if you get bitten like the rest of us well you can guess where your money will be going!

I have only done 2 and can say that while I feel a sense of accomplishment from running the way I feel after a Sprint Tri is so much more!

Great job on just going for it and don't dount your abilities as you will be more than ready.

Thanks Paul!  As my trainer told me,I'm not entering to win the race, I'm entering to finish and win the challenge.
It is going to take some crazy adjusting of my schedule, but I think we have figured out a training plan.
