Running and loose butt/thigh skin

I had a HUGE NSV today and ran .5 mile.  I have always wanted to run, and was advised to wait until I was at 180 so I didn't damage my knees, or anything else, and suffer an exercise set back.  Well, I'm 181.  And today I ran.  Yay me!!

My boobs are pretty much gone, so my sports bra did a great job there.  What I wasn't prepared for was the jiggle and bounce of my loose butt and thigh skin/fat.  Now, I really wouldn't have considered that it's that loose until today.  But I definitely felt it like I used to feel my boobs bouncing.

What the heck do you do?  I was wearing shorts, should I switch to spandex running tights or bike shorts with lots of spandex?

It was weirdly uncomfortable, and I'd like to avoid that feeling again!

it is actually painful for me to have all of my skin slapping around when I try to run. I bought a pair of women's speedo swim shorts (knee length) to cover my thighs when I swim, so I wear those under my running pants. It is SO much more comfortable and my legs aren't nearly as fatigued (still tired, not fatigued... as in not holding me up for a day or 2).

and great job on the run!!!!

Yep - spandex all the way!!! I do not like to run in normal running shorts because I have massive loose skin issues.

I usually get my shorts from Kohls - they have a decent selection of spandex type shorts/capris (my skin hangs down past my knee so I have to wear long shorts or capris).  I wouldnt recommend bike shorts because the ones im thinking about have big old pads in the middle.

I'm going to have to look into this!  I also have skin that hangs over my knees.  I've been running in below the knee yoga pants and like the OP I think I need more support.  I worry about all the bouncing making things sag more ...

Thank you both! That totally confirms what I'm thinking... and justifies my expenditure. In fact, I think I have a 20% off Kohl's coupon in the car right now!

I've also picked up a lot of good and inexpensive running clothes as Target and TJ Maxx.  I wore "tights" or bike-style shorts for the first year of running.  After running in the hot summer heat, I do let things bounce a bit more and wear looser fitting stuff - but it definitely takes getting used to!

I don't run in shorts (or ever wear shorts) for that same reason!  I wear fitted tights.  I like my Old Navy tights but they're a capri length and a little longer than I like to run in this time of year.  I recently bought some Champion tights (at Target, on clearance!!!) that are my favorites right now.  They hold everything together nicely and come to just below the knee.  Short enough to not be hot but long enough to keep everything covered.

I also bought a nice thick Champion racer back shirt that same day.  It's a nice thick fabric.  That's the whole outfit (I'm on the left in the pink and black).

Compression capris. Old Navy makes a great pair. :)
