I just got my surgery date, 5/23, and I know I won't be able to do strength training for a while. Any know exactly how long I won't be able to? I'm currently seeing a personal trainer once a week and doing a strength class once a week. I will ask the surgeon but I won't see him until next week and I was just wondering. Thanks!!

depends on your medical team, for me and a lot of other people it was 6 weeks post-op until i was cleared for all exercise.  best of luck!

Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

I was told 6 weeks - actually waited 8 and still ended up with an incisonal hernia. I did have an open surgery though and I don't think they do that much anymore.

Doc said 6 weeks for me, but I was doing light..very light band and Dumbbell exercises for my arms, delts, back and chest 3 or 4 days after I got out of the hospital. You seriously won't feel like doing much that first 6 weeks. Walking is best.
