WOOT!!! I pulled the trigger and I am not officially registered for Goofy 2013. I am in the race with my cousin. He is a seasoned marathon runner, so not expecting to see him, but at the finish lines, but looking forward to the event none the less.

I will train for this event as a continued training session of my Augusta IM 70.3. Just switchout some biking with some additional running.

I was thinkig about trying to get miles up to Ultral levels in preparation, albeit not racing that distance, but covering the distance. Do you think it's a good plan?

I have heard some plans that include training runs over 26 miles. My best marathon had training runs of 20, 22 and 24 miles 2, 4, and 6 weeks out from the race. I have run Goofy's on an 18 mile long run and a 16 mile long run. If you have the time I would recommend the longer runs!

the longer the better for marathon training, jus****ch out for injury and burn-out...  i topped my long runs for all of my marathons @ 20 miles.  for goofy, on my last 3 or 4 long runs i added a medium run the day before to simulate race conditions.  i.e., my last long run was 20 miles on christmas eve, and 10 miles on the 23rd.  that worked fairly well for me.  i had intended on upping my longest pair of runs this last time to 22/11, but didn't have the time to fit it in safely with all the travel and injuries i had last year.  best of luck!  you are going to love running in disney.
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.
