First Ride!!
I got my bike back yesterday from the bike shop for a tune up and inspection. Made me feel good that the guys there were amazed at the deal I got for the bike. They put me on a ?spinner? so that they could show me the gears and to make sure the seat was in the perfect place. I went home and rode around my neighborhood to get accustomed to the bike and being back on a bike after a 2 decade hiatus. I rode 4.77 miles. Could have gone further but man was my ass was hurting. So, I need some seat advise.
you can get bike shorts that have padding in them to help, but the only thing that really will stop the ass-pain is time in the saddle. you will be amazed at how fast your bum gets used to it, should only be a week or two and you will stop noticing it (depending on how often you ride).
Where are we going?? And why am I in this handbasket??
right now. somewhere. somebody is working harder than you.

I agree with Bill. Give it a few weeks, it does take some getting used to. I was shocked at how much easier it gets on the bum. I also wear the padded shorts when I'm planning on riding for more than a half hour.
