Im looking into having surgery but want to start dieting and excersising on my own now. What are some good excersises for weight loss without a gym membership? I weigh 322lbs and feel very uncomfortable around others during workouts. I was currently diagnosed with diabetes and I also suffer from sleep apnea.

If you are able, walking will be an awesome start. Build your distance slowly. Maybe add ankle or wrist weights. You can use home products for strength exercises -gallon of milk, a bottle of water, etc

I worked out with my WII Fit Plus at home pre-op.  I was up to an hour or so a day at the time of surgery.  Along with a low-carb diet/doctor's pre-op diet, I lost 32lbs ahead of surgery. It made my recovery REALLY easy as I had built up my fitness level.  It also made all the walking I did post-op not only possible but much easier than it would have been otherwise.  Other thing to consider is a treadmill.  It's a very good tool to have post-op.

You could use Leslie Sansone's DVD (walk away the pounds) series.  They are low impact and safe.  I was 372 and got down to 287 by the time I had surgery, halfway counting calories but using her videos consistently (about 5 days a week).
